South Africa Wildlife and Conservation
Semester Abroad
Spanning the course of three months, students will have endless opportunities to gain hands-on experience learning clinical skills and providing care to South African animals in need. Gain valuable experience learning and implementing the important work conservation and zoo vets do while also enjoying free time visiting some of South Africa’s most popular sites, including going on safari!

Program Highlights
 
  • Feed and help provide medical care to cheetahs throughout the program
  • Study big cats such as white and tawny lions, Siberian tiger, pumas, and leopards
  • Learn about all aspects of care and management of captive wildlife
  • Go on safari to see lions, leopards, rhino, elephants, buffalo, and more
  • Assist the zoo vet team in providing care such as vaccinations and deworming
  • Support enrichments and training for primates, including gibbons and lemurs
  • Visit a cultural village and get to learn more about South Africa's history
