Study Abroad 101: Mexico
Study Abroad 101 in Guanajuato
Winter Break 2019

About the Program
This trip is perfect for students who have never studied abroad and want to learn the basics of international travel. Participants will have the opportunity to spend a week over winter break in Guanajuato, a beautiful colonial town and UNESCO World Heritage Site in the central hills of Mexico. Through our partnership with the Universidad de Guanajuato, students will learn survival Spanish and experience Mexican culture. Excursions include the Mummy Museum, Diego Rivera Art Museum, Juarez Theater, Pipila Monument, Hidalgo Market, a Mexican Street Food Tour and much more! Participants who successfully complete this program will receive a $500 scholarship towards a second study abroad program.

Dates:
January 5-12, 2019

Accommodations: Participants will stay in hotels for the duration of the program abroad

Eligibility: This program is open to SVSU students who have not studied abroad before. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, no current conduct record, and must submit a complete application by October 15, 2018. There are only 8 spots available for this program. If more than 8 completed applications are received, interviews will be held to finalize the program roster.

Course: This is a non-credit experience which keeps the program cost low.

Payment Schedule
October 15, 2018: $330 ($80 study abroad application fee and $250 program deposit). Both can be paid at Campus Financial Services Center on the 1st floor of Wickes Hall. Please bring your receipts to the Study Abroad Office in Wicks 230. 
December 6, 2018:  $1,250.00 (remaining program fee)
