Learn Spanish in Costa Rica with EF Education First

Learn Spanish in Costa Rica with EF

Playa Tamarindo is known for its surf, sand and easy-to-understand local Spanish. When you learn Spanish in Costa Rica, you'll be surrounded by natural beauty, the warm and friendly "Tico" culture, and plenty of opportunities to study biodiversity.  Whether you're looking to brush up on Spanish over the summer or would like to spend a semester or year earning Spanish credits, Spanish immersion with EF might be a good option for you.  EF welcomes university-age students from a number of countries around the world, so studying Spanish in Costa Rica with EF will allow you not only to greatly improve your Spanish abilities and immerse yourself in Spanish culture, but also to develop bonds with fellow students from diverse backgrounds and locations around the globe.

College Credit, Internships, Exam Preparation and More

EF knows college students are busy.  That's why we've designed our Spanish courses to help you get fluent as quickly as possible.  When you study Spanish in a normal college or university, you speak Spanish only during classtime, perhaps with a conversation lab mixed in here and there.  With EF, though, you'll be speaking Spanish 100% of the time, whether you're in class, the iLab, or taking an eco-tourism excursion.  Your new friends at EF won't (in most cases) speak English as their first languages, so you'll need Spanish to communicate.  Our courses are literally guaranteed to help you climb up the Common European Framework of Reference quickly.

To make it easier for college students to accelerate their learning, we've partnered with Eastern Washington University so that you can earn college credit for Spanish language and history courses.  If you're planning on taking the DELE, you can enroll in EF's proven exam preparation course.  We can also help you find opportunities to practice your Spanish by volunteering in the local community.  EF students also take elective courses relevant to their interests, so you'll learn how the Spanish language and Tico culture relate to your academic interests as well as your daily life.

Stress-Free Study Abroad

If the thought of planning a semester abroad stresses you out, you're in luck.  EF makes it easy to study Spanish in Costa Rica because our talented admissions team is happy to help you arrange every detail of your journey, from flights to travel insurance to airport transfers. You can choose to live either in a residence with other EF students, or in one of our carefully-selected host families.  The host family option comes with its own meal-plan, as you'll be provided with delicious home-cooked meals for breakfast and dinner.

Learn Spanish in Costa Rica with EF at the EF Escuela Internacional in Playa Tamarindo.  Established in 1965, EF is the world leader in international education and has been offering Spanish classes in Costa Rica since 2007.  EF offers a variety of study abroad programs in countries around the world.  You can study Spanish with EF at four locations: three in Spain (Barcelona, Madrid and Málaga) and one in Costa Rica.
